The problem on this Georgetown site
Wet-weather flows at the lift station were spiking well past dry-weather baseline after every significant rain. Staff knew the basin had inflow and infiltration but had no defensible data on which structures were responsible, and the rehab budget only covered a fraction of the basin.
How our NASSCO-certified crew approached it
- Surveyed all 34 structures in the basin to NASSCO MACP with photo documentation at each level
- Scoped the connecting mains so pipe condition and structure condition were rated separately
- Scored and ranked every structure so staff could spend the rehab budget worst-first instead of by guess
- Re-inspected after rehabilitation and delivered the before and after record for the compliance file
What the camera documented
- Active infiltration through the chimney and cone on 9 of 34 structures inspected, MACP-coded and photographed
- Deteriorated bench and channel with exposed aggregate in the oldest section of the basin
- Two frames seated on failed mortar, taking direct surface inflow through the ring
- Upstream mains largely sound, redirecting the budget away from pipe replacement
Measurable results
- MACP condition ratings let staff rank all 34 structures and rehab the worst 9 first
- Rehab dollars went to lining and grouting instead of open-cut main replacement that was not needed
- Post-rehab re-inspection documented dry walls and clean channels for the compliance file
