The problem on this Lakeway site
Steep grade, thin soil over rock, and a gravity main that surcharged into a lower-level restroom whenever the downstream lift station cycled. Maintenance had been throwing cabling calls at it for a year with no record of what was actually in the pipe.
How our NASSCO-certified crew approached it
- Scoped downstream first to establish whether the restriction was in the private main or at the lift station wet well
- Ran the crawler through 240 ft of steep-grade main, logging every joint on the rock-cut section
- Coded observations to PACP and sonde-marked the two worst defects on the hillside for the repair crew
- Re-scoped after the spot repairs with the lift station cycling to prove the surcharge was gone
What the camera documented
- Two separated joints on the rock-cut section where bedding had washed out below the pipe
- Grease and scale banding at the low point, coded PACP DAGS
- Wet well inlet clear, which moved the fault back onto the private main
- No cracking or deformation elsewhere across 240 ft
Measurable results
- Repair narrowed from a full hillside main replacement to two spot repairs, roughly 18 ft of excavation
- Zero surcharge events reported in the six months since the re-scope
- Cabling calls replaced with a documented annual jet-and-scope interval
